Through travels to different parts of the world, the Claudia Pierce has photographed landscapes and animals in their natural habitats, using these encounters to tell stories about the natural world. Creating quilts based on these photographs has become a passion.
Inspired by Carl Sagan’s words in Pale Blue Dot about Earth as the only known world to harbor life, the exhibition reflects on humanity’s responsibility to preserve and cherish our shared home.
In her solo exhibition, Our Only Home, the artist transforms some of the most moving scenes she has witnessed into quilts. The works invite viewers to consider how these images resonate within our world. Do they inspire us? Are they heartwarming? Do they reflect something about our own humanity? Are the animals and environments depicted increasingly threatened in their natural habitats, and what forces place them at risk?
Through these stories, Our Only Home seeks to bring greater awareness to the fragility of the natural world and the collective majesty it contains. To preserve it, we must first understand, value, and honor it.
