Claudia Pearce's Quilt in Prestigious Exhibition

Claudia Pearce's quilt, Only 3900, was accepted into the Sacred Threads Exhibition to be held October 30 thru November 7, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Sacred Threads is an exhibition of quilts exploring themes of joy, inspiration, spirituality, healing, grief and peace/brotherhood.

This biennial exhibition was established to provide a safe venue for quilters who see their work as a connection to the sacred and/or as an expression of their spiritual journey. https://www.sacredthreadsquilts.com

What is the story behind Only 3900? On a trip to India in 2017, I had the privilege to see five Bengal Tigers in the wild. It was truly a watershed moment. I was holding back tears just watching these majestic animals. I realized that observing wildlife in its native habitat is spiritual for me. This started my journey of going on safaris and telling stories of my experiences and observations through quiltmaking.

Where did the name come from? According to the World Wildlife Fund, only 3900 tigers were left living in the wild as of 2019. Due to poaching and habitat loss, the population has plummeted from 100,000 in 1900 and only 5 of the original 8 species are left.
