Lisa Scarbath Connects Communities Through Mosaic

Along with well-known mosaic artists, Shelley Beaumont of Minneapolis, and Bonnie Fitzgerald of Northern Virginia (also an author and YouTube host), Lisa co-chaired the Contemporary Mosaic Art2 (CMA2) bi-annual member conference March 4-8, 2026, in Albuquerque, NM. Approximately 200 mosaic artists from around the world converged in Old Town ABQ for 4 days of workshops, presentations, social events, shopping and a silent auction. CMA2 is an all-volunteer, non-profit membership organization that provides online resources and events for mosaic artists of all levels.

The conference also had a two-prong exhibition entitled "Pieces of Us." Lisa's stained glass mosaic, Happy Hour, 18"x24" was juried into the in-person fine art mosaic portion at The Gallery ABQ and will be exhibited there through the end of March. Lisa's public art project, Harford 250, was juried into the Site Specific and Community Engagement portion of "Pieces of Us" Exhibition and was shown in a slide presentation during the conference.

Lisa received a Professional Development grant through the Maryland State Arts Council for volunteering her time and efforts over the last 15 months so that she could travel to this event in New Mexico.

Lisa's Victorian Tea Party, a 3D life-sized mosaic made with discarded China and found objects, was awarded Second Place by Juror Deborah Maklowski in Columbia Art Center's current invitational exhibition, "Visionary Women: Reservoir of Strength."
