Watercolor artist Nishita Jain has had a dynamic and rewarding season, marked by new opportunities, expanded teaching, and continued recognition for her work. In early 2026, she will launch her course 'Painting Winter Light in Watercolor', a focused series designed to help students strengthen composition, values, and expressive mark-making.
Nishita’s studio practice also reached an exciting milestone this year: she was selected by the Howard County Arts Council for a studio space in their new historic Ellicott City location. Its proximity to Artists’ Gallery of Ellicott City will streamline her workflow and deepen her involvement in the local arts community.
Nishita is featured in the American Impressionist Society’s All Member Exhibition, and she recently received an award in the Baltimore Watercolor Society’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Exhibition, a juried show recognizing excellence in watercolor across the region. Locally, her ongoing two-month exhibition at the Bernice Kish Gallery at Slayton House has drawn strong attendance, with visitors responding to the atmosphere and storytelling in her landscapes.
Together, these milestones highlight a year of creative momentum; balancing teaching, exhibiting, and studio exploration while contributing meaningfully to Maryland’s artistic landscape.
