As America celebrates its 250th year, Artists’ Gallery wood artist Gene Adcock, also known as “PopPop,” recently brought together family, craft, and philanthropy at the San Diego County Fair.
While his three grandchildren visited him at the San Diego Woodturners booth, Gene was busy turning wooden tops in exchange for donations to support Turners Around Vets, a program that teaches the therapeutic art of woodturning to veterans.
Through partnerships with organizations including Naval Medical Center San Diego, the Wounded Warrior Battalion at Camp Pendleton, and local VA programs, Turners Around Vets provides veterans with opportunities for healing, skill-building, and community connection.
Over the course of the month-long fair, the club expects to raise approximately $15,000 for this meaningful cause.
