Visionary Women Exhibit 2024

The 2024 Visionary Women Theme Exhibition – “Speaking Up Speaking Out” is being held at the Columbia Art Center Main Gallery. The show dates are March 8-April 5, 2024.

Several of our member artists are participating in this exhibition. Here is a quick preview of their artwork. We hope you’ll visit the exhibit to see these in person!

Amanda Milliner’s oil painting ‘March on Washington’, 24×24”, was painted from memory.

“At the Women’s March we all moved as one, listening and responding to one another like a flock of birds. It felt both powerful and peaceful, moving in the same direction with other women.”

This pastel portrait, titled ‘Louisiana Survivor’, by Pat Roberie is in memory of her aunt, an outspoken women who lived through many tragedies in her life, including living through Hurricane Katrina.

The inspiration for Karen Jury’s photo encaustic “Cuban Grandma” was an original photograph taken by her during a workshop in Cuba.

In ‘Little Women’, the artist, Nishita Jain, celebrates her older sister’s poetry and shared memories of their family home.

“I consider this artwork a hidden tribute to our mother, an exceptional woman, in every sense of the word.”

‘My Time … My Choice’ by Joyce Bell.

“This painting represents every woman who has spent more time taking care of others than herself. This is a reflective moment in time where she can steal a moment for herself.”

The reception and awards ceremony is on Saturday, March 9, between 1-3pm.
